Choosing the right tent(s) for your event needs can be a daunting task. For such a large item, there are a host of factors to consider before making the purchase. You may also be considering whether it is worth investing in a bespoke tent, and wondering how to make that decision. Read on to find out how you can choose the tenting solution that is just right for you.
The first factor to consider in choosing an event tent is the kind of events it will be used for. Environmental factors, such as what surfaces it will be resting on, are worth considering beforehand. For instance, classic pole tents need to be staked into the ground, and are therefore ill-suited for asphalt, indoor venues, and rocky ground. If your work happens outdoors, you’ll want to stay away from both pole and pop-up tents, in favour of a pagoda or frame tent, which have more substantial walls and offer better shelter from the elements.
The size and nature of the event also influences your choices. Pop-up tents are more appropriate for smaller activities and events, or purchased in bulk to provide a booth effect. Frame tents and pole tents are ideal for bigger, more elaborate celebrations, but require a lot more time, effort and paraphernalia to erect.
The intended contents of the canopy should also be factored in. If your event has lots of sectioned aspects (say for instance, a catering section, a seating area as well as a dance floor), you’ll be better off with the frame tent, as the pole tent’s central pole can be a hindrance. It’s also very important to be completely clear on what is going under the canopy, as that will determine the size of the tent.
Lastly, your budget and aesthetic will also play deciding roles. Larger tents are generally more expensive. While pole and pop-up tents are generally cheaper than pagodas and frame tents, they provide far less protection from inclement weather, and can only be erected where they can be staked to the ground.
At this stage, you may be wondering if your unique requirements can be completely fulfilled by a single one of the options outlined above. The good news is that you don’t have to restrict yourself to just one of these options.
